Advancement of students is based on individual progress.  A student may be asked to repeat a level if the student is not quite prepared for the next at the end of a season.  A student may also be moved forward into a higher level in the middle of the year if we feel the student is no longer benefiting from the current level. 

Parents are invited to sit in during classes the last week in December each year to observe their child's/children's progress.  These are not a performances; rather, they are regularly conducted classes.

Potential new students are permitted to observe classes of interest at any time prior to the beginning of rehearsals for the Dance Concert.  Once rehearsals are in progress, potential new students may observe classes of interest by appointment only.  Please contact the Academy to arrange a class-auditing appointment during the rehearsal period. 

All rehearsals are closed rehearsals.  This means that no observation is permitted during any rehearsal without the approval of the Artistic Director.  Rehearsals begin the first week in December.

Students may make up classes which were missed due to the illness of the student, or cancellations due to inclement weather, holiday closings, or illness of instructors, during the course of the season.  Classes will be made up in an appropriate-level class.  In order to receive credit for missed classes, students must make up classes before the end of each season, as make up classes are not carried to the following season.  It is the responsibility of each student to make up classes. 

Tuition is refunded up to one week after registration only.  No refund will be granted for classes already attended.  There is no refund for missed classes, as they may be made up. 

Students are expected to be appropriately dressed for classes at all times as described below.  Absolutely no jewelry is permitted during classes, with the exception of stud earrings.  Absolutely no gum chewing is permitted during class sessions.

BALLET: 

Ladies: Black leotard; pink tights; pink ballet slippers/pointe shoes; hair pulled back away from the face.

Gents: White t-shirt/top; black tights; black ballet slippers; hair pulled back away from face, if long hair.

JAZZ:

Ladies: Any colour leotard; black tights; jazz shoes/boots; hair pulled back away from the face.

Gents:  Any colour t-shirt/top; black tights/black sweat pants; jazz shoes/boots; hair pulled back, if long.

MODERN:

Ladies: Any colour leotard; tights/sweat pants; bare feet/foot thongs; hair pulled back.

Gents:  Any colour t-shirt/top; tights/sweat pants; bare feet; hair pulled back, if long.
